Nick’s Law Enforcement Career

As a 911 Operations Supervisor for the Cuyahoga County Department of Justice (CECOMS), he supervises the shifts of call-takers for the Cuyahoga County 911 system, which handles 8,000 to 9,000 calls daily. He oversees AMBER Alerts, coordinating mass casualty responses for Cuyahoga County, media alerts, and cell phone pings. He also monitors radio traffic and channels and assists the local Fire and Policy Department with Special Requests.

Nick’s responsibilities include overseeing personnel’s daily functions, reviewing and evaluating employee performance, and recommending training when needed.

In addition to his position as Operations Supervisor, Nick Dolbin also serves as police sergeant for the Timberlake Police Department, where he is a TAC Officer, on Command Staff, and a Taser Instructor. He is also responsible for overseeing patrolmen.

The Start of His Career in Law Enforcement

Nick began his career in law enforcement as an entry police officer of the Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority, where he patrolled a subsidized housing complex.

From there, he worked for various other police departments in Cleveland, Ohio, and beyond. Nick was a Commander for the Amsterdam Police Department and a police officer for the East Cleveland Department. He served as a police officer for the Geneva on the Lake Police Department, where he was responsible for their largest meth seizure (three pounds!) during a traffic stop.

His law enforcement career also includes the position of Administrative Sergeant for the MetroHealth Police Department, where he was responsible for dispatch, radios, FTO programs, uniforms, vehicles, equipment, annual in-service training, policies and procedures, recruitment, and grants. He was a TAC Officer, Firearms Instructor, Range Master, and Glock Armorer.

Awarded Numerous Certifications

In his various law enforcement roles, Nick gained a wealth of experience and earned several certifications to carry out his responsibilities in the communities he served, including Crisis Intervention Training (CIT), Public Safety Telecommunicator (PST), Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD), Communications Training Officer (CTO), Field Training Officer (FTO), Background Investigator, Semi-Auto Pistol Instructor, Shotgun Instructor, and Taser Instructor.

Nick Began His Career in the Insurance Industry

Before Nick entered law enforcement, he worked in the insurance industry. He was a Manager of Statewide Operations for Medical Mutual of Ohio, where he was responsible for overseeing the daily operations of claims and customers. He also worked at Klais and Company as Manager of Workers’ Compensation, where he was responsible for heading the daily operation of a BWC Managed Care Organization.

His foray into the insurance industry began as a Claims Specialist for the Ohio Bureau of Workers Compensation, managing claims from injured workers. He worked directly with the injured workers, providers, employers, and attorneys.

A Graduate of CSU

Nick Dolbin graduated from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration, majoring in Management and Labor Relations. He also attended the Cleveland Heights Police Academy and Southwest Florida Public Service Academy.

Always looking to expand his knowledge and skill sets, Nick has also taken courses in Executive Management Leadership at Ashland University.

Dedicated to Community Service

Unsurprisingly, community service is in Nick’s DNA, extending beyond his law enforcement work. He has received several awards for Community Youth Service and Gun Safety Outreach with the United States Attorney in North East, Ohio.

With the MetroHealth Police Department, he supported The MetroHealth Advocates for Community and School Safety (MACSS), a clinical and support staff committee working to increase gun safety and advocate that gun violence be treated as a public health issue. The MACSS worked with MetroHealth’s Office of Public Safety to distribute free gun locks to individuals. Nick and his fellow officers demonstrated proper safety procedures for securing a weapon, installing a lock, and handling safe guns.

Working on Home Projects

In his free time, Nick enjoys working on projects around the house. He gets many of his ideas from the home improvement shows he watches, and he uses these to bring his vision to life in his own home.

Nick also enjoys vacationing with his family. Exercising and staying healthy and fit are important to him personally and for his job.
